Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)

Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you need to accomplish your entry/visa formalities. You will then be received by a representative from Marron Treks and transferred to your hotel in Kathmandu. Welcome drinks will be served at the hotel and then we will have a quick pre-trip meeting. You can then spend the remaining time resting or as you please. In the evening you can stroll around the vicinity of your hotel just to get the feel of this wonderful city. Day 02: Drive (6-7 hrs) or fly (25 min) from Kathmandu to Pokhara (822m)

Flying is the quickest option, taking around 25 minutes compared to several hours by road. The flight offers stunning views of the Himalayas, including the Annapurna and Langtang ranges. The road journey is longer (6-7 hrs) but allows you to experience the scenic beauty of the countryside. The Prithvi Highway offers picturesque views. Overnight at Hotel in Pokhara (Breakfast) 

Day 03: Drive from Pokhara to Jomsom (2,743m/6 hrs)

Start early in the morning after breakfast to make the most of your day. Driving from Pokhara to Jomsom is a scenic journey that takes you through beautiful landscapes and diverse terrain. The distance between Pokhara and Jomsom is approximately 170 kilometers (about 106 miles) along the Prithvi Highway passing through beautiful countryside and small towns.

You'll eventually reach the town of Beni, which is a major junction point. From Beni, the road continues northward towards Jomsom. The drive offers stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. You'll pass through charming villages, terraced fields, and river valleys. Keep an eye out for the Kali Gandaki River, which runs parallel to much of the road and is one of the major rivers of Nepal.

Depending on road conditions and traffic, the drive from Pokhara to Jomsom usually takes around 6 hours. Upon reaching Jomsom, you can relax and unwind, or explore the town and its surroundings. Jomsom is a popular starting point for treks into the Annapurna region. Overnight at Lodge in Jomsom (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 04: Drive from Jomsom to Lo-Manthang (3,600m/6 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Lo-Manthang from Jomsom. Driving from Jomsom to Lo Manthang offers an incredible adventure through the rugged landscapes of Upper Mustang. The road from Jomsom to Lo Manthang passes through the heart of Upper Mustang, offering breathtaking views of barren landscapes, ancient villages, and majestic Himalayan peaks. The route is rough and often unpaved, with river crossings and narrow mountain passes,

As you leave Jomsom, you'll pass through the villages of Kagbeni and Tangbe, known for their traditional Mustangi architecture and narrow alleyways. The road follows the Kali Gandaki River gorge, one of the deepest in the world, with towering cliffs on either side. You'll pass by ancient cave dwellings, monasteries, and chortens, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. Keep an eye out for the spectacular views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and other Himalayan peaks along the way.

Upon reaching Lo Manthang, you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the walled city and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Lo Manthang is the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Lo and is known for its rich cultural heritage, including the royal palace, monasteries, and traditional mud-brick houses. Take some time to explore the town and immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere. Day 05: Explore Lo-Manthang (3,600m)

Today is exploration in the ancient walled city of Lo-Manthang. Lo Manthang, the capital of the former Kingdom of Lo, is a treasure trove of history, culture, and natural beauty.

Start your day with a visit to the Royal Palace of Lo Manthang. While visitors are not allowed inside the palace, the exterior itself is an architectural marvel, reflecting the rich history and cultural heritage of the region. Take some time to admire the intricate woodwork and design details.

Explore the ancient alleys and streets of Lo Manthang on foot. Marvel at the traditional mud-brick houses adorned with colorful prayer flags, and interact with friendly locals going about their daily lives. The narrow lanes are lined with shops selling Tibetan artifacts, handicrafts, and souvenirs.

Visit the Jampa Lhakhang Monastery, one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in Lo Manthang. Admire the impressive structure and intricate murals depicting Buddhist teachings. Take a moment to soak in the serene atmosphere and perhaps participate in a meditation session led by resident monks.

After lunch, continue your exploration by visiting the Thubchen Gompa. This ancient monastery, dating back to the 15th century, is renowned for its beautiful frescoes and religious artifacts. Day 06: Drive from Lo-Manthang to Chhusang (2962m/6 hrs)

Bid farewell to the enchanting town of Lo-Manthang as you embark on your journey to Chhusang. You will drive through the Mustang Valley, soaking in the stunning vistas of towering Himalayan peaks, barren landscapes, and quaint villages along the way. The journey from Lo-Manthang to Chhusang typically takes around 6 hours, but the exact duration may vary depending on road conditions and weather.

Upon reaching Chhusang, take a moment to stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Check into your lodge and unwind after the day's journey. Spend the evening exploring the charming village of Chhusang, which is known for its traditional Tibetan architecture, fertile fields, and warm hospitality. Take a leisurely stroll through the village streets, interacting with locals and immersing yourself in the laid-back atmosphere of rural Mustang. Overnight at Lodge in Chhusang  (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 07: Drive from Chhusang to Tatopani (2,743m/5-6 hrs)

The drive from Chhusang to Tatopani typically takes 5-6 hours, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks, winding rivers, and lush valleys along the way. Upon reaching Tatopani, check-in hotel and rest. Tatopani is renowned for its natural hot springs, which are believed to have healing properties and are a popular destination for travelers seeking relaxation. Overnight at Lodge in Tatopani (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)  

Day 08: Drive from Tatopani to Pokhara (822m/5-6 hrs)

The journey from Tatopani to Pokhara typically takes around 5-6 hours, but the exact duration may vary depending on road conditions and traffic. As you travel, keep your camera handy to capture the breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Marvel at terraced hillsides, cascading waterfalls, and quaint villages that dot the landscape along the way.

In Pokhara, you can spend the evening strolling along the tranquil shores of Phewa Lake, admiring the reflections of the surrounding mountains in the water. Explore the bustling streets of Lakeside, where you'll find an array of restaurants, cafes, and shops selling everything from local handicrafts to outdoor gear. Overnight at hotel in Pokhara (Breakfast/Lunch)

Day 09: Drive or fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu

After beakfast, either take a flight to Kathmandu or go for an overland drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu (Breakfast)

Day 10: Final departure

Today is your final day in Nepal. It is advisable to reach the airport three hours before your flight. A representative of Marron Treks will escort you to the airport for your final departure. During the trek, you will be accommodated in a Tea House/ Lodge or Trekking Inn. Most of these lodges and teahouses cater good services and are equipped with modern amenities. We will endeavor to provide you the best accommodation available along the route so that you get a good night’s rest in a hygienic milieu.

 

Meals
We never compromise with the quality of food and the health of the trekkers as well as the crew members. Generally, we opt for the fresh and nutritional local community food available in the Mustang Region. You could make your delicious pick from an array of traditional food like Sweet Potato, Buck Wheat Barley etc. . This way, you could not only get the real sense of the local culture and life patterns but also contribute to promoting the locally available resources of organic food and beverages. Besides, a wide range of Continental, Chinese, Italian and Indian cuisines like Pizza, Spaghetti, French Fries, Soups, Breads, Masala Curry etc. are also available in the restaurants for your retreat.
