Dhaulagiri Base Camp’s short trek usually starts from Marpha and ends in the town of Jomsom. From Marpha, you will trek through picturesque villages, terraced farmlands, and lush forests, gradually ascending towards the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Along the way, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Dhaulagiri massif, including several peaks over 7,000 meters (23,000 feet).
During the trek, you will pass through beautiful valleys, cross high mountain passes, and camp in scenic locations, all while being surrounded by the rugged and majestic Himalayan landscape.

Arrive in Kathmandu and one of our representatives will receive you and then transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. The rest of the time is free to explore the city where your hotel is located which is usually at Thamel – the popular tourist hub in Kathmandu where every needs and facilities for the tourist are located like hotels, pubs, restaurants, departmental stores, trek gear shops etc. Or you can simply rest at your hotel if you are jet lagged and get ready for an amazing Himalayan trek.

After breakfast, you will fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, which is a short 25-minute flight. Enjoy the scenic aerial views of the Himalayan mountains during this short journey. After arriving in Pokhara, you can take the opportunity to rest and relax before starting your adventures the next day.
Use this day to rest and rejuvenate before delving into the activities and exploration planned for the upcoming days. Pokhara offers a tranquil environment with beautiful lakes and stunning mountain views, making it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
If you feel up to it, you can take a stroll around the Lakeside area in Pokhara. Lakeside is a popular tourist area with a wide range of restaurants, cafes, and shops. You can enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee while admiring the scenic views of Phewa Lake.

Early in the morning take a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. The flight duration is approximately 20-25 minutes, and it offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks, including the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Jomsom is located at an altitude of around 2,720 meters.
Once you land in Jomsom, you’ll proceed with a drive to Marpha, a charming village renowned for its apple orchards, traditional architecture, and famous Marpha brandy. The drive from Jomsom to Marpha takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on road conditions.
From Marpha, your trekking adventure begins. You’ll start trekking towards Yak Kharka, situated at an altitude of around 4,200 meters. The trek duration is approximately 4-5 hours, but it can vary based on your pace and trail conditions.
As you trek from Marpha to Yak Kharka, you’ll be treated to awe-inspiring mountain scenery, including panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. The terrain varies, with some uphill sections, gentle slopes, and rugged trails. Be prepared for changes in altitude.
Once you reach Yak Kharka, you will spend the night in a tented camp. It’s important to note that Yak Kharka is at a considerably higher altitude than your starting point in Jomsom. Take time to acclimatize and listen to your body’s signals. Stay hydrated, maintain a steady pace, and be mindful of any symptoms of altitude sickness.

Starting from Yak Kharka at around 4,200 meters, you will climb up to the higher elevation of Hidden Valley at approximately 5,200 meters. Be prepared for the effects of high altitude. The trail from Yak Kharka to Hidden Valley offers a mix of uphill sections, rocky terrain, and some steep ascents. It’s important to take your time and pace yourself, allowing your body to adjust to the changing altitude and physical demands of the trek.
Along the way, you will be surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The landscapes are breathtaking, with snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, and rugged terrain. Take breaks along the trail to appreciate the panoramic views and capture some memorable photos. Soon Hidden Valley is reached where you camp.

Starting from Hidden Valley at around 5,200 meters, you will gradually climb up to the base camp situated at approximately 4,750 meters. The trail from Hidden Valley to Dhaulagiri Base Camp involves a mix of uphill sections, rocky terrain, and some challenging ascents. You will navigate through moraines, and glacier crossings, and possibly encounter some steep sections. The terrain can be demanding, so it’s important to have prior trekking experience and be physically prepared.
After walking for 6-7 hours you will reach Dhaulagiri Base Camp is reached where you camp for the night. Dhaulagiri Base Camp is a remote and high-altitude location, be mindful of any symptoms of altitude sickness and take appropriate measures. Stay hydrated, eat well, and maintain a steady pace.

You may need to navigate through challenging sections, so it’s important to be cautious and maintain a steady pace.
The trek offers beautiful views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including the Dhaulagiri range. Take the opportunity to soak in breathtaking landscapes and capture memorable photographs. After 7-8 hours of walk will reach Hidden Valley.

Leaving Hidden Valley, you will descend to lower altitudes as you make your way towards Alubari. The elevation at Alubari is approximately 1,955 meters. The trail from Hidden Valley to Alubari involves a mix of downhill sections, rocky paths, and forested areas. Be prepared for different types of terrain and ensure you have proper footwear for the trek.
As you descend, you will have opportunities to enjoy scenic views of the surrounding landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and forests. Take breaks along the way to appreciate the beauty and capture memorable photos. After 7-8 hours of walking will reach Alubari.

The trail from Alubari to Marpha may involve a mix of downhill and flat sections, passing through forested areas, terraced fields, and local villages. It offers a chance to witness traditional rural life and the beautiful landscapes of the region. After reaching Marpha, you will proceed with a drive to Jomsom, which takes approximately 3 hours. Enjoy the scenic drive, as you pass through the rugged terrain and witness the breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks.
Once you reach Jomsom, check in at the lodge. If time permits, you can explore Jomsom and its surroundings. The town is situated in the Kali Gandaki Valley, which is known for its unique geography and cultural heritage. Visit the local market, interact with the locals, and enjoy the peaceful ambience of this mountain town.

Early in the morning fly from Jomsom to Pokhara. After arriving in Pokhara check in the hotel and take some time to rest and relax. You can enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the city, visit lakeside areas, or indulge in local cuisine. Pokhara offers a range of activities and attractions to explore, including Phewa Lake, World Peace Pagoda, and numerous hiking options.

We will catch a flight to Kathmandu from here and after another 25 minutes on air, we touch down at the domestic wing of the Kathmandu airport. A representative from Marron Treks will receive and transfer you to your designated hotel. You have the entire day at hand and can spend it as you, please. You would probably want to get groomed a bit and do some souvenir shopping at Thamel. In the evening Marron Treks will host a peppy farewell dinner party. Enjoy the succulent traditional Nepali cuisines and a cultural extravaganza! Cut loose but sleep tight.

The trip concludes and our office representatives will take you to the international airport in Kathmandu to catch your onward flight to your next destination or fly back home. You need to be at least 3 hours before your flight time at the airport.

Throughout the trek, you will have the convenience of staying in a fully equipped camping setup, complete with dedicated support staff. This includes a personal tent for yourself, a dining tent, a toilet tent, and a separate tent for the accompanying staff. Meals
Meals are typically provided as part of the fully organized camping experience. The catering is handled by a support team accompanying the trek, and you can expect a variety of meals that cater to different dietary preferences and requirements. Commonly, the meals include a mix of local and international dishes, providing a balance of nutrition and taste. The dining setup usually involves a dedicated dining tent to enhance the overall camping experience. It's advisable to communicate any specific dietary restrictions or preferences in advance to ensure that the meals align with your needs.

Any Experience Required?
There is nothing hard and fast rule about trekking experience. Any adventure enthusiast, with a generic physical aptitude can definitely relish the thrill of this trek.
Difficulties
Difficulty here is actually synonymous to ‘high altitude’. As this trek involves some seriously high altitude climbing above 5000 meters, one is likely to experience some problem in breathing owing to the deteriorating oxygen level. But as this is something which is anticipated, we do have enough precautionary measures to tackle it.
