Rara Lake has been a popular destination with a very rough route in Western Nepal for Trekkers. The glimpses of culture and scenery on the way at quite different from the rest of Nepal. Situated at a high altitude, you can find the lake surrounded by Rara National Park with pine, spruce and juniper forests. The view of snow-capped Himalayan Peaks enhances the attraction of trekkers. The trek begins with a flight to Jumla. Going along the mountain path and some village one can reach the bank of Rara Lake.

Best time to go for Rara Lake Trek
The best time to do Rara Lake Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to early November) seasons.

In the spring season, the temperature is mild, and the blooming rhododendrons add to the scenic beauty of the region. The sky remains relatively clear, making it easier to enjoy the panoramic views during the trek. Similarly, in autumn, the weather is dry and stable, and the sky remains clear, creating ideal conditions to trek through the trails. Spring and autumn seasons provide the ideal weather and trail conditions for a successful and enjoyable Rara Lake Trek experience.

During the monsoon season (June to September), the region experiences heavy rainfall, leading to landslides and road blockages. Therefore, trekking during this season is not recommended. Similarly, during the winter months (December to February), the region experiences heavy snowfall, making the trek difficult and dangerous.

The ideal time to embark on the Rara Lake Trek is from September to November and March to May. These months are considered the best time to explore the beauty of Rara Lake and its surrounding landscapes. During these periods, the weather is usually stable and clear with mild temperatures, making the trek more comfortable and enjoyable. In addition, the stunning scenery can be fully appreciated during these months, as the skies are generally clearer, the foliage is lush and vibrant, and the water in the Rara Lake reflects the sun’s rays, creating a breathtaking sight. However, visitors should be aware that temperatures can drop significantly at night, especially at higher altitudes, and proper clothing and equipment are essential to stay warm and comfortable.

It is also advisable to avoid the monsoon season, which runs from June to August, as the heavy rainfall can make the trekking trails slippery and muddy, and visibility can be reduced due to cloud cover and fog. Ultimately, with proper planning and preparation, Rara Lake Trek can be one of the most memorable adventures of a lifetime.
