Rara Lake Jeep Tour Highlights
Once you land at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu and accomplish your entry/visa formalities, you will be received by a representative from Marron Treks and transferred to the hotel. Welcome drinks will be served at the hotel after which we will have a quick pre-trip meeting and discuss the itineraries. You can then take your time to relax, unpack and spend the time as you wish. Today, you’ll be flying from Kathmandu to Surkhet, a city in Nepal’s Mid-Western region. The flight will be relatively short, approximately one hour, but it offers spectacular views of the Himalayan mountains and the picturesque landscapes of Nepal. Keep your camera ready to capture the breathtaking scenery from above.
Upon landing at Surkhet Airport, you’ll notice the lower altitude and a different environment compared to Kathmandu. Surkhet is a gateway to many exciting destinations in the Mid-Western region of Nepal. Check-in hotel at Surkhet and the rest of the time is free to explore. Overnight at Hotel in Surkhet. Have breakfast at your hotel in Surkhet before you begin your journey. The journey is estimated to take around 6 to 7 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. As you leave Surkhet behind, the road will wind through lush hills, terraced fields, and charming villages. The drive to Kalikot will take you through several small towns and villages. Feel free to make stops along the route to interact with locals, take photos, and immerse yourself in the local culture.
After a long but rewarding journey, you’ll arrive in Kalikot, situated at an altitude of around 1500 meters. Kalikot is known for its scenic beauty and unique cultural experiences. Bid farewell to Kalikot and begin your drive to Jumla. The drive is estimated to take around 5 to 6 hours, depending on road conditions and any stops along the way. As you leave Kalikot, you’ll be treated to more breathtaking views of hills, forests, and traditional villages. Upon arriving in Jumla, check into your lodge and take some time to explore the area. Jumla is known for its apple orchards and agricultural landscapes. If there’s time, consider visiting the local markets in Jumla. After breakfast drive to Rara Lake. The drive is estimated to take around 7 to 8 hours, as the roads are often rugged and winding in this remote region. As you leave Jumla behind, you’ll traverse through dense forests, terraced fields, and charming villages. The journey will offer you awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. En route, you’ll enter Rara National Park, a protected area known for its diverse flora and fauna. Keep an eye out for wildlife and the unique vegetation of the region.
After a long but rewarding drive, you’ll arrive at the pristine Rara Lake. The turquoise waters of the lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks make for a breathtaking sight. Take some time to relax and soak in the tranquillity of Rara Lake. You can stroll along the lakeshore, enjoy the fresh mountain air, and capture some memorable photographs. After breakfast walk to Talcha Airport. The trek from Rara Lake to Talcha Airport is relatively short and takes approximately 2 and a half hours. The trail will take you through beautiful forests, meadows, and picturesque landscapes. As you trek, take your time to enjoy the stunning scenery and the fresh mountain air. The surrounding hills and valleys will be a treat for your senses.
After a few hours of trekking, you’ll reach Talcha Airport, situated at an elevation of 2735 meters. The airport is known for its short runway and scenic location. Check-in lodge at Talcha and the rest of the time is free to explore. Overnight at Lodge in Talcha (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Board the domestic flight from Talcha Airport to Nepalgunj. The flight duration is approximately 30 minutes, and it will take you back to the city of Nepalgunj. Upon arriving in Nepalgunj, you’ll have some time for transit. You may need to wait for your connecting flight to Kathmandu, so use this time to relax and grab a snack at the airport if needed.
Board the connecting flight from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu. The flight duration is around 45 minutes, and you’ll soar above the beautiful landscapes of Nepal. Upon reaching Kathmandu, our representatives will transfer to your hotel and the rest of the time is relaxed/freshened up. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu (Breakfast)
A free day in Kathmandu to fulfil anything that you missed out on spotting in this energetic capital of Nepal. You can indulge yourself in shopping or strolling around some of the cultural and historical landmarks of Kathmandu. Thamel is your hot spot for shopping where you can haul all the souvenirs representing Nepal and its culture. Maybe in addition to your interesting trip anecdotes, you would also want to take back some stuff for your friends and relatives. In the evening, a farewell dinner with a range of traditional Nepali cuisines will be hosted by Marron Treks. During the trek, you will be accommodated in a Tea House/ Lodge or Trekking Inn. Most of these lodges and teahouses cater good services and are equipped with modern amenities. We will endeavor to provide you the best accommodation available along the route so that you get a good night’s rest in a hygienic milieu.
Meals
We never compromise with the quality of food and the health of the trekkers as well as the crew members. Generally, we opt for the fresh and nutritional local community food available in the Rara Region. You could make your delicious pick from an array of traditional food like Sweet Potato, Buck Wheat Barley etc. . This way, you could not only get the real sense of the local culture and life patterns but also contribute to promoting the locally available resources of organic food and beverages.
