Ascending the Island Peak is one of the most popular peak-climbing adventures in the Nepalese Himalayas. Island peak climbing offers immense excitement and thrill for both amateur as well as serious climbers. This can be the perfect choice for those who want to mix adventure into their trekking. This trek is also one of the most sought after treks in Nepal. You can get a clear view of the Island Peak from Dingboche. The mountain itself is the extension of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar separated by a small column.
This trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan panorama and an insight into the Buddhist culture. The view from the summit offers many peaks such as Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) in a semi circle to the north, Makalu (8475m), Barutse (7129m) to the east and famous expedition peak of Amadablam (6812m) to the south.

After entering Sagamartha National Park, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views to Namche Bazaar, the gateway to the Khumbu region. We stay overnight at Namche bazzar.
Day 05: Namche Bazaar Acclimatization day.
On this day, we will stay here in order to acclimatize and adjust to the thinning of the air. We make a short walk around museum to celebrate the traditional custom of the sherpas people. Day 06: Namche to Tengbuche.
Our trail leads us past the large Sherpa settlement of Khumjung from where we start descending deep into the Dudh Kosi Valley at Pungki Thanka. The trail then ascends the right flank of the Dudh Kosi valley to Tengboche at 3870m., which is home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, a spiritual center of the Khumbu. We got to climb for long but, we may not feel that tired as we can see the magnificent views of Mt. Amadablam and on clear days, views of Mt. Everest and its surrounding peaks. Amadablam means "Mother's Charm Box" and is named after the little box that Sherpa women wear around their necks. It is also one of the most beautiful mountains in the Himalayas. Overnight in a guesthouse.

This day, we start our trekking from Chhukung. The path is steep and climbs south and then turns east line of the valley. Then the trail twists below the southern flank of the moraine from the Lhotse glacier. We continue our pleasant walking along the river side and leads to a big-rock. On the south of this rock, lies the Amphu Lapcha route. The criss-cross route through Imja and Lhotse glacier leads to a wide valley. It flanks the south west side of the Island peak. We stay overnight at Island peak base camp. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 11: Island Peak Base Camp to High Camp (5600m).
This day, we head towards the Island peak high camp. Then we start climbing the mountain. The path then goes beyond the base camp before we head off left up the steep hillside. At the beginning, the path is sandy but soon it turns into lush before becoming boulder strewn. The slope then contracts as you climb up the hill. Then the path enters a steep rock channel. We stay overnight at a tent in Island peak high camp.
Day 12: Island Peak High camp to summit Back to Chhukung.
This day, we will have to climb the rock culvert from early in the morning. Although it is not difficult, there are many short rock steps to be crossed before you come across the right side of the culvert. After that the trail leads to the ridgeline and it ultimately leads to traverse on to the base of the summit glacier. A rope is needed to climb up the glacier as it contains several crevasses but it is not that difficult, to a 100m(330ft) snow and ice slope (35-40°) on which the guides will fix a rope. From the top of this slope, 3 rope lengths along a sharp summit ridge lead to the top. We will enjoy the summit views for a while and after that we will descend all the way to Chhukung. We stay overnight at guest house in Chhukung.
